The regenerated phosphate may be released to the overlying water and reprecipitated within the sediment as an authigenic phase, or adsorbed by other constituents of the sediments.
Samples of sediment, overlying water, pore water, and benthic invertebrate were collected at 13 stations along a typical municipal polluted river in the Pearl river Delta.
